Dear Friends and Colleagues,

If you have not already heard, Homa Hoodfar, a well-known anthropologist who works on women in the Muslim world, has been imprisoned in Iran. Homa is a close-friend and long-time colleague, and I can vouch for her integrity and humanity. I am posting the website link which contains a petition for her release, along with information about her case. Please consider signing the petition; it is urgent. At this stage we are asking for the signatures and support of academics; this kind of petition is taken seriously by the Iranian authorities. Please distribute the link to other interested colleagues, and sign directly on the petition website.
